About My Botanical Art Journey

BlackandWhiteDyingMapleLeafI didn’t know that a simple photograph of this dying maple leaf on my porch would change my whole outlook on God’s amazing world.  Suddenly, without warning, it became very important to me to learn how to preserve this life that was slowly ebbing away.

Just a few simple tools:  An HB Faber-Castell 9000 pencil and a softcover Strathmore mixed media sketchbook was all it took.

Welcome to my personal journey of becoming a botanical artist and inspiring you to cherish the things of God above all else.  In the days to come I’ll share more on how I learned to work with graphite and how it is the foundation to all amazing botanical art…

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stand in the path of sinners,
nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

Psalm 1:1-3
